REAC assembly

Against the backdrop of the conflict between the tow-truck sector and insurers, the meeting of the 71 member companies of a network that, more than ever, calls for business unity has been held.

REAC assemblyThe 10th General Assembly of the Red de Empresas de Auxilio en Carretera (REAC) was held this week at the Hotel Nuevo Boston in Madrid, on the eve of the meeting of the National Roadside Assistance Alliance. The meeting featured speeches by the president of REAC, Manuel Fernández (director of Grúas Mallorca), and its vice-president, Remigio Macarro (manager of Grúas Torre del Oro), as well as the various people who make up the companies in the network.

One of REAC's guiding principles is that business competition should become “coopetition”, generating productive alliances in an atmosphere of mutual collaboration. This is important, not only because of the possible existing conflict scenarios, but because of the major changes currently taking place in the sector. Ultimately, the aim is to obtain individual benefits through joint action.

REAC is represented in all of Spain's autonomous communities, and has helped to improve its members' results thanks to its commercial presence and distribution channels, broadening their business opportunities. It has also increased its members' production capacity, promoting access to financing and cost reductions. The Network also supports bodies that promote collective processes.

Agenda

REAC assemblyThe General Assembly of members is the body responsible for appointing the Board of Governors, made up exclusively of professionals from the sector. Among other tasks, the Assembly reaches consensus on the conditions of admission for companies wishing to join REAC, which must undergo a prior audit to be assessed by the Board of Governors.

This year, issues of great interest to the sector were discussed, such as the use of the tachograph, as well as the new vehicle markings and the problems with applying them, given the ambiguity of the wording of the regulation. Specifically, the V-24 sign exclusively for tow trucks, and the creation of the State Register of Assistance on Public Roads (REAV), under the Central Traffic Headquarters. Two of the new features of Royal Decree 159/2021, in force since 1 July 2021.
