REAC training for qualified staff (Level 2 Operator)

Recovering a vehicle on the road can involve an operation of great technical complexity. The level 2 training we provide at REAC is aimed at operators with plenty of miles behind them.

A high level of qualification among roadside assistance operators will mean a greater degree of experience in carrying out recoveries on the same level and on a different level with negative gradients, not necessarily vertical. Knowing how to operate a self-loading tow truck on the same level to carry out a recovery requires very specialised practice and training.

Courses for experienced tow truck operators: Level 2 Operator

At this level, professionals must be able to operate self-loading tow trucks (with their corresponding accessories), as well as trailers. The recovery scenarios, however, become more complicated: ravines, embankments…

Likewise, anyone trained at this level will be prepared to recover vehicles carrying general-use chemicals (except high-risk products) or electric vehicles.

  • Here we find the tasks of level 1: recovering light vehicles weighing up to 3,500 kilograms, both on the same level and on a different level with negative (non-vertical) gradients.
  • Use of visual equipment (goggles), platform equipment, trailers, equipment accessories and add-ons, self-loading tow trucks and accessories.
  • Use of trailers for transporting vehicles, handling of equipment accessories and add-ons.

Level 2 training content

This training, which REAC provides for its member companies, lasts 20 hours and is fundamentally based on learning to operate self-loading tow trucks. Learning covers the risks and preventive measures of the job and the equipment used. It includes PPE, but also the basic ADR kit, the equipment carried in dangerous goods transport units: with escape masks, eyewash liquids, gloves and high-visibility protective vests, torches, etc.

Roadside assistance companies interested in this training for their operators should know that it covers advanced emergency knowledge, as well as advanced first aid. Risks related to electricity and falls from height are also addressed
