It is not easy to reach the highest level of competence in a sector as demanding as roadside assistance. And the level 3 training we provide at REAC is designed for operators who have proven their worth in highly complex tasks.
Recovering light vehicles that have fallen vertically using a self-loading tow truck. Assisting vehicles on a different level with negative gradients. Recovering overturned or partially overturned light vehicles (including large ones, at their maximum dimensions). Assisting vehicles classified under the ADR, the acronym for the European Agreement concerning the International Carriage of Dangerous Goods by Road… these are some of the important tasks that a roadside assistance operator with proven experience must carry out. But what would their qualifications be?
Courses for highly experienced tow truck operators: Level 3 Operator
We are talking about recovering light, medium and heavy vehicles in any circumstances. The scenario may involve extreme difficulties: ravines, vehicles weighing up to 6,500 kilograms, vehicles carrying dangerous goods such as chemicals… to give a few examples.
These are very serious operations that involve the specialist technicians taking on risks: hence the importance of training. Let us remember that in our country, in 2013 alone, a total of 18 roadside assistance operators died.
- Here we also find the tasks of level 1 and level 2, since it is understood that the trainees are professionals with a great deal of experience in road recovery.
- Use of visual equipment (goggles), platform equipment, self-loading crane trucks and their respective accessories.
Level 3 training content
The theoretical training in prevention covers 30 hours in the case of REAC courses, although anyone who has previously completed level 2 training will have 10 hours credited.
The content is taught by accredited staff who are experts in Road Safety-related subjects and, of course, in the working procedures for recovering all kinds of vehicles.
