REAC, Network of Roadside Assistance Companies, joins the fight for safety in the sector

REAC, the Network of Roadside Assistance Companies, has taken the initiative to join the National Roadside Assistance Alliance, a body that brings together more than 2,500 companies and 11,000 workers in Spain. Through this union, they aim to strengthen the sector and protect the continuity of roadside assistance companies.

One of the main goals of this alliance is to improve the safety of the sector's workers, a constant concern that has led the DGT to take on the count of tow truck drivers struck by vehicles. The Roadside Assistance Alliance has succeeded in getting the DGT, through the National Road Safety Observatory, to carry out a real count of fatalities. This count is carried out with the collaboration of the sector associations, as the DGT itself has acknowledged that it is unable to do so rigorously.

In this regard, REAC, as a member of the Alliance, has informed the DGT that, so far in 2025, the number of operators struck by vehicles stands at three, more than the two recorded by the DGT. This action demonstrates REAC's commitment to the safety of its members, a fundamental pillar of its philosophy.

Road safety is part of the very essence of roadside assistance companies. That is why REAC had already launched the "Ni uno más" (Not one more) campaign, which sought to denounce the lack of protection the sector suffers at the hands of the public authorities and the pressure from insurers and assistance platforms.

In addition to the fight for safety, REAC offers a range of free services to its members, aimed at boosting growth and competitiveness. These services include:

  • Specialised training: REAC offers courses for different levels of operators, from Level 1 for beginners to Level 3 for highly qualified operators handling the most complex situations. It also provides occupational health and safety training for business owners and managers, emphasising the responsibility that lies with them.
  • Safety and environmental training: Specific courses are offered on handling flammable liquids and waste management, as well as training in electrical and electronic repairs.
  • Promoting collaboration: The network allows its members to improve results through synergies, share information and access technologies that would be too expensive individually. The strength of each member is combined to design products and services jointly.

Unity is strength, and REAC proves it with its joint action to protect and secure the future of companies in the sector."
